The Pirate Bay went down for a few hours and it caused people to worry about the status of TPB. However, the hosting issue was resolved as informed by the admin to
TorrentFreak. Now, The Pirate Bay is online again.
TorrentFreak reported about The Pirate Bay’s offline status after its revival this month. Earlier, it was not clear why the file-sharing website went offline. TF stated that it can be due some hardware or routing problem or software-related issue.
However, TPB’s .onion address was working and that means that people could access The Pirate Bay using the Tor network. According to the latest update by TF, the admin of TPB informed that due to a hosting issue, the website was down. The problem has been solved for now.
After the website went down again, people started fearing that it might be the end of The Pirate Bay. During the downtime, the website displayed an error message from CloudFlare. It pointed out that the user’s browser was working fine as well as CloudFlare. However, the error was spotted at the host level.
The Pirate Bay’s Key Domains May Land In Legal Trouble
The man known for bringing down The Pirate Bay in December, Prosecutor Fredrik Ingblad is after two domains of the website – ThePirateBay.se and PirateBay.se.
Maria Ekelund of Punkt SE talked to
TorrentFreak about how this case is different from others.
“There have been two legal cases regarding forfeiture of domain names from the domain name holder (ikonm.se and [torrent site] xnt.nu). In the Pirate bay case the prosecutor wants to forfeit the domain names directly from .SE,” Ekelund said.
Meanwhile, Ingblad stated to
DN.se that the state should take charge of the domain. Ingblad also said that this case is unique as it is a “balancing act.” “It is about fundamental rights versus the need to prevent crime online.”
