Although, the Camera app is easily accessible from anywhere on your Windows 8.1 by using the Search Charm but, Microsoft has also included a new gesture to access the Camera app right from your lock screen so, that you don’t miss any precious moment while unlocking your device and launching the camera app.
Other mobile platforms like Android, iOS and Microsoft’s own mobile version of Windows platform, Windows Phone includes special methods to launch camera apps right from your lock screens even without the need to unlock your device. Now, with Windows 8.1, Microsoft has also brought the same feature to Windows powered tablets and PC’s.

Accessing Camera app from lock screen of Windows 8.1 is very easy and the camera app is just one swipe away but, the feature isn’t enabled by default.
Just follow the instructions below to enable the camera app access from lock screen of Windows 8.1.
Instructions: Enabling Camera access from lock screen.
• First of all, go to the ‘Settings’ Charm of Windows 8.1 by pressing ‘Windows key + I’ or swiping from right and selecting ‘Settings’.
• Your ‘Settings’ Charm will open. Here press ‘Change PC Settings’ at the bottom.
• Your ‘PC Settings’ will open. Here navigate to ‘PC & devices’ > ‘Lock Screen’.
• Once Lock Screen page is open in ‘PC Settings’, scroll to end of the page. You would see the ‘Use camera from lock screen’ option with a switch under ‘Camera’.
• Turn the option ‘On‘ by moving the slider switch to right side.
• You may close the PC Settings.
How to access camera from lock screen?
Now, when you have enabled the camera access, you can access the camera app from lock screen easily.
• Once you think you want to access the camera from lock screen, simply swipe down the lock screen image and your camera app will open where you can start capturing the amazing moments of your life.
• Here all the tasks can be performed like they could be done from camera app from Start Screen but, you will need to unlock your PC to access the camera roll.
• You can always press the ‘Unlock’ to go to the login options of Windows 8.1 to sign-in and start using Windows.
