Twitter, the most popular micro-blogging site, lets you have your say in all of 140 characters. This social site however, has some limitations and lays down some restrictions, which you are required to follow.
Twitter daily limit
Daily tweets A Twitter user can make 1,000 Tweets in a day, although there are some exceptions allowed in certain cases.
Daily Direct message Limit You can send a maximum of 250 direct messages in a day.
Follower Limit You can follow, up to 2,000 people without any problems. But once you are following 2,001 users, additional restrictions apply. These limit may vary based on the ratio of the number of people you follow, to the number of people who follow you. If you’ve reached the account-based follow limit of 2,000 users, you’ll need to wait until you yourself have more followers before you can follow additional users. Every Twitter account is technically unable to follow more than 1,000 users per day.
Daily API Requests You can make up to 150 API requests to Twitter per hour.
Changes to account email You are allowed up to four changes to your email account per hour. That’s quite a lot however!
If you reach any limit, Twitter will let you know with an error message telling you which limit you’ve hit. You will have to try again after some time.
Limits alleviate some of the strain on the behind-the-scenes part of Twitter and reduce downtime and error pages. For the sake of reliability, we’ve placed some limits on the account, says Twitter.
If an account is seen to aggressively follows others, or if an account sees a sudden jump in its followers count, Twitter may even suspend such an account.
