Breaking down Strike Packages in 'Modern Warfare 3'
« on: October 23, 2011, 05:36:22 PM »
As anyone who played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer knows, the players that benefited most rack up incredible kill counts and few, if any, deaths.

So for Modern Warfare 3, which launches Nov. 8 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, developers at Infinity Ward wanted to branch out.

"What we wanted to do was offer the same kind of reward system for every type of player," says executive producer Mark Rubin in the video posted above by Infinity Ward.

The three-minute clip breaks down the new Strike Packages players can expect from the next Call of Duty.

There are three types: Assault, Support and Specialist. Assault is a straightforward class with rewards such as predator missiles and sentry guns. Support players gain access to UAVs and Recon drones, while Specialists get to add an extra perk as they notch consecutive kills.

Most interesting is that Killstreaks have been replaced with Pointstreaks, so players can maintain a streak by capturing a flag or other key location. In the case of Support players, their Pointstreaks do not reset after deaths.

Check out the video above for a detailed look at the packages.
