Windows 8 offers Kinect support
« on: April 22, 2011, 06:45:07 PM »
Some folks have managed to get their hands on Windows 8 (probably the leaked build Build 7850) and upon digging through the operating system; they stumbled upon some interesting features. It has been discovered that Windows 8 will support some sort of human detection sensor, which is rumored to enable a user to login using his physical characteristics – similar to the Xbox Live login feature that the Kinect motion controller provides for the Xbox.
Microsoft has previously mentioned Kinect support arriving on the PC, not to mention the software development kit will be released to the public in the future as well so it makes sense that Windows 8 should support it out of the box. In the meantime, hobbyists and programmers are already developing their own Kinect-based software and games, while some companies like Evoluce have even created a program to turn your Windows 7 PC into a gesture-controllable device.

Well it’s going to be a long way until we see the final version of Windows 8 and things could be very different by then. So in the meantime, just sit back and enjoy all the rumors and speculation until it is finally released or revealed by Microsoft.
