YouTube: Long videos for more users
« on: December 11, 2010, 10:15:41 AM »
YouTube, a subsidiary of Google and one of the largest video-sharing website, made a remarkable update as it lifted limits on the length of videos. Earlier, YouTube only allowed users to upload content in chunks of 15 minutes each if the video exceeded the limitations.

Users who have been complying with copyright laws and maintain a good history would now be able to benefit from this update. Authorities updated the system with unlimited time limits, introducing a process called the Content ID system, a sophisticated detection technology which scans all new YouTube videos for copyrighted material.

Google have been working hard with copyright holders in order to prevent privacy on YouTube and Google Search. Currently, more than 1000 global-partners are seen using the new detection system in order to manage their content displayed on YouTube.

Not all users would be eligible for unlimited-length video uploading. Users who have been maintaining a track record, for not violating copyright laws would benefit from this service. New users would need to upload several short videos first before they can earn the privilege.

To see whether you are eligible for unlimited upload, click on the “Upload” button on YouTube’s site, which would identify if your account qualifies or not.
