Windows 7 is by far one of the best all-round operating systems out there, combining a good looking interface with fair performance, interesting gadgets and great constant support. Yet, for those who don’t want to upgrade either because they’ve gotten used to an older version or Windows, or because they need some items that can be found on other versions, there are a couple of solutions to get the good looks of Windows 7 on their previous editions, without installing the later. We are going to present one of these solutions, an easy and straight forward one, which can also be used by those who already have Windows 7 and only want different wallpapers, rather than installing lots of new themes.
Getting the Wallpapers while using Windows:
The first step is to download what we need for the process: the 7-Zip program and the desired Windows 7 theme. After the download is complete, right-click on the theme folder, selecting 7-Zip and then Extract to “Theme Name”. This will create a new folder containing another one called DesktopBackgroun
Inside the DesktopBackground folder you will find the desired wallpapers, which are now up for grabs. You can move, rename, use or delete them as you wish, without having to use the entire theme.
Getting the Wallpapers while using Ubuntu:These Wallpapers can also be extracted on Ubuntu using the same program. In order to do this:
◦Go to the Ubuntu Software Center, find and then install 7-Zip.
◦Afterwards, download the theme that contains the wallpapers you want.
◦Right-click the Theme folder and rename it, replacing the “.themepack” extension with the usual “.zip”.
◦Now extract the content of the folder by right-clicking it and selecting the “Extract here” option.
The Wallpapers will be in the same “DesktopBackground” folder, mentioned earlier, ready for you to manage as you wish.
These steps allow you to get access to any of the wallpapers, included in theme packs, that you may like, without having to install the entire theme or search for every file individually, online.
