Of the three LGA 1366 Core i7 processors Intel released last year, just one, the Core i7 920, has survived to this day, as the Core i7 965 EE was replaced by the i7 975 EE, and the i7 940 with the i7 950 (which in turn is being retired by the i7 960). Since nothing last forever, the 2.66 GHz i7 920 will also be discontinued, but not before a new model will take its place. The 920's 'successor' is said to be the i7 930, a chip clocked at 2.88 GHz featuring pretty much what you'd expect - four cores, eight threads, 8MB of L3 cache, an integrated triple channel DDR3 memory controller, a 130W TDP, and a price tag around $284. Apparently there's some uncertainly regarding the manufacturing technology used for the chip - 45nm or 32nm, but it's probable that Intel will 'save' its 32nm lines for the 6-core Gulftown processor.
