Windows 10 Mobile Concept Comes With A Taskbar
« on: September 06, 2016, 05:38:25 AM »
But does it make sense? A new Windows 10 Mobile concept has surfaced, imagining what the mobile OS might look like with a taskbar. In short, it brings along a radical change for the operating system.

Microsoft has promised the upcoming Redstone 2 refresh will heavily focus on the mobile, and come with substantial improvements to both the feature set and the user interface of the platform. For this reason, it might be too early to talk about changes to the look and UI.

However, that is not stopping designers from unleashing concepts that provide us with glimpses.

Glimpses on what Redmond could change for the operating platform.

This new design that made its way over the weekend borrows some options from the desktop side of things and shows how they can be implemented to work on smartphones — specifically, the popular taskbar feature.

Sure, Microsoft these days is keen on bringing its PC and mobile operating systems in sync, and offer similar looks and feels across the two platforms.

But whether the company will go this far in bringing a staple and traditional desktop feature on mobile, now that is something that remains to be seen, particularly when there is precious little space available on a phone screen.

In this concept, though, the taskbar plays the role of a panel that displays indicators.

And it also comes with redesigns that help Windows 10 Mobile waste less space in menus like Settings and the Windows Store. A translucent background is also included.

Redstone 2 is due in spring 2017, so Microsoft certainly has enough time to make more substantial changes to the operating system.
