Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard Hits Stores
« on: July 14, 2015, 08:48:05 PM »

Microsoft’s portable, ultra-thin, lightweight keyboard was announced earlier in the year, and then vanished into the ether. The device, designed to work with pretty much all devices is now available to buy.

You can pick it up from the Microsoft Store or other retailers for around $99.95. The Bluetooth 4.0 keyboard will work with Android and Apple tablets or phones, and even as a desktop replacement, although it may be a push for long documents.

It supports Windows 10 and Windows Mobile, and will work with most Lumia devices, although you’ll need Windows 8.1 Mobile running Update 2.

Handily, it supports two devices at once so you can type on your phone and tablet, perhaps having a chat conversation on one, and working on a Word file on the other, switching by pressing the OS button.

It is also waterproof, so when you spill coffee or Coke on your main keyboard, you can carry on using the Foldable while that one dries out.

Just 5mm thick, we’re not sure how comfortable it will be for extended use, but as a common device across your many gadgets, it could save a lot of time typing and avoiding those embarrassing typos, or auto-correct snafus.

Microsoft claims some three months of battery life on a single charge. It’ll be interesting to see how that stacks up in the real world, but it easily recharges through a USB port.
