We Have Our First Leaked Build Of Windows 8.1 Update 1
« on: January 22, 2014, 05:48:34 PM »
Ladies and gentleman, we have our first leaked build of Windows 8.1 Update 1. It took a little longer than I thought, a little longer than was expected actually, but an early build is now out.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 Build 9600.16596 is a rather mouthful to pronounce, but it is now available.

Nothing particular surprising here, considering we had previous knowledge that something like this could happen. In fact, WZOR, the famed leaker of Microsoft software and information actually said that a leak could happen sometimes after January 14, after Redmond sends out more copies for testing.

And now in a short tweet, he has confirmed that this particular build has leaked, meaning those interested can expect ISOs floating around in the usual places soon.

The full ISO name is 6.3.9600.16596.WINBLUES14_GDR_LEAN.140114-0237, so if the downloaded ISOs do really make their way to the web, then this is the string you should look out for. That is, of course, if you want to take it for a spin for testing purposes.

It is not advisable to install it on your main PC, early test build and all.

Anyway, Windows 8.1 Update 1 is on track to bring some major improvements to the operating system, from interface refinements to new options and feature additions to Metro apps.
