NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050, 1050 Ti Official
« on: January 04, 2017, 05:27:04 AM »
Well, I suppose they had to do it. NVIDIA made sure no one knew about the GeForce GTX 1050 and the GTX 1050 Ti GPUs, at least not until they were made official.

Problem was that many OEMs spilled the beans before that, announcing this graphics processor in the upcoming machines. Say, for example, the entry level gaming notebook, Y520, that Lenovo unveiled today as part of its new Legion gaming series.

That left NVIDIA with no choice but to officially announce these graphics chips, which the company did so on Twitter, announcing these new GPUs for laptops, budget gaming notebooks more specifically:

Of course, we already knew these were coming.

These new GPUs are basically the laptop version of the entry level video cards that were released just a few months back. NVIDIA bills them as being affordable yet being able to deliver higher quality graphics than most budget PCs with built-in graphics solutions.

And judging by the specifications of these little monsters, they seem to be right:

GeForce GTX 1050

• GPU Architecture: Pascal

• CUDA Cores: 640

• Frame buffer: 2 GB GDDR5

• Memory Speed: 7 Gbps

• Boost Clock Relative: 1.3x

• Boost Clock Actual: 1455 MHz

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

• GPU Architecture: Pascal

• CUDA Cores: 768

• Frame buffer: 4 GB GDDR5

• Memory Speed: 7 Gbps

• Boost Clock Relative: 1.3x

• Boost Clock Actual: 1392 MHz

Expect these two chips to be available on a number of laptops by various OEMs this year.
