Talking in surges, are we? The Windows 10 adoption story has taken another interesting turn, and a pattern appears to emerging after the launch of Threshold 2.
Also known as the November Update for Microsoft’s latest operating system.
There was talk that the adoption of the new OS will happen in stages, with growth packets in and around the launch of major updates for the platform — and this is exactly what is happening, after the highs of the official launch in July.
The first few weeks turned out to be really successful for Windows 10, as a large fraction of the most enthusiastic fan base made the jump to this latest version.
Performance slowed down in September.
And this up and down has been the norm ever since.
According to this report, citing StatCounter data, the release of the Threshold 2 update has helped bring more people to Windows 10, as another wave of upgrades was experienced last week.
It was on September 26 that the OS started going up again, as Microsoft made the upgrade available to more users. The growth halted on October 3, but things took an upwards turn just 9 days later, and Windows 10 started gaining ground.
The latest such increase was recorded on November 12, when Threshold 2 was actually released.
Seemingly, many users (and businesses) decided to wait for the first major update for the OS to launch, and planned their upgrades around that, expecting better performance, fewer bugs and an improved overall experience.
Good on them, I say!
Microsoft confirmed last month that Windows 10 was powering some 110 million computers, and the next official figure from the software titan will be real interesting.
But this much is sure that the growth is coming in flows, instead of a solid and straight pattern.
