I started a new section dedicated to highlighting some comments and feedback that really seems to make sense.
The previous feedback dealt with Cortana and the unintuitive setup of that product based on where you live.
This time, the same reader discusses his challenges with the mail product.
Here’s the comment:
Another idiotic example from Microsoft of this type is the constant deactivating my MS email accounts every time I move between France and the UK simply because Microsoft finds it suspicious that I have changed location and server.
Come on Microsoft grow up and stop this regional nonsense – it may help you to market your products, but simply gets in the way of users doing what they want to do.
Not just Microsoft but Adobe too seem to have problems getting their heads around the fact the us Europeans are mobile, multi-lingual and hate the world view projected by these major software companies.
I had terrible problems with my Adobe account because my bank was in the UK and I lived in Spain but spoke English. Ebay have similar issues and I’ve ended up with a Spanish eBay account and can’t sell on the UK one! Absolutely crazy. Facebook similarly have issues.
Google drives me nuts as it insists on taking me to the Spanish Google even though my computer language and keyboard are British. They also throw their dummy out of the pram if I dare use a different browser even.
They send activation codes to my mobile but often they don’t get through. Microsoft are making heavy weather of this Cortana debacle and show no signs that they are aware of it even!
We live in a world dominated by American companies but the majority of their customers are NOT in the USA! When will they realize that and start accepting that the continent of North America is not typical of how the majority in the world live?
These are some of the global challenges of creating enterprise software.
