Xbox One Getting Keyboard and Mouse Support
« on: July 23, 2015, 02:43:01 PM »
As Microsoft paves the way for streaming of Xbox One games on your PC or tablet with Windows 10, the company is also looking at gaming going the other way, with your Xbox One playing PC Games.

Of course, the Xbox One has USB ports, but currently no way to support a mouse and keyboard. That will change when it updates to Windows 10, although the actual implementation may take a little longer.

Microsoft’s Xbox boss Phil Spencer has tweeted that:

Quote
“Yep, keyboard and mouse support for Xbox would need to be there for this to work, those aren’t far away.”
as part of a conversation about overall compatibility. Freeing up games to play on any screen in your home is clearly a priority for Microsoft, as it now competes with a host of Android micro consoles, Sony’s PlayStation TV and other cheap gaming systems.

All that leaves is for you to choose from the huge array of cool gaming mice and keyboards that are out there, to distinguish them from your boring desktop equivalents.

The backlit keyboards are essential for playing in the dark, while most gaming mice have extra buttons to move more controls off the keyboard. Hopefully the Xbox One will support all these extras to make it a full PC experience.
