PhotoFast halts sale of MacBook Air SSD upgrades

Last month a company called PhotoFast started offering the first storage upgrade kits for Apple’s new MacBook Air models. The SSDs were designed to fit the MacBook Air, and offered customers who purchased the cheaper 11.6 inch netbook the opportunity to install a 256GB disk. Apple only offers that model with 64GB or 128GB options.

Now it looks like PhotoFast may have pulled the upgrade kit at Apple’s request. While it’s not clear that Apple has any legal grounds for asking PhotoFast to stop selling the upgrades, PhotoFast is a licensed seller of Apple accessories, so it clearly behooves the company to listen to requests from the big A.

While PhotoFast still shows the MacBook Air upgrade kit on its main page, the individual product web page appears to be down.
