Windows 10 Has A Hidden HQ Xbox One Streaming Mode
« on: August 16, 2015, 08:20:45 AM »
One of the big features for Windows 10 to tempt home users is the ability to stream Xbox One games to your PC.

That’s ideal if the big screen is being used by the family, and it also works on tablets, giving Xbox One users a Remote Play feature similar to the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.

However, in the early going, many users are complaining about poor image quality, something that could be down to the network and WiFi quality. Still, most users should have sufficient bandwidth with a decent router.

But, it looks like Microsoft already has the solution in hand with a high quality mode buried in the Xbox app’s settings to allow a better quality stream. Activate that setting, and the image quality should pick up.

We assume Microsoft is keeping it hidden for now while it perfects the technique or modifies the code behind it to ensure optimum performance from the Xbox.

If you want to give it a go, use File Explorer on your PC to find C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxApp_? ? ? ? ?\LocalState (no spaces between the question marks)– the question marks are a five digit string.

Access the userconsoledata file with the Notepad app and locate a value for “IsInternalPreview” and set that to “true.”

Relaunch the app and you should notice improved visuals. If it is still causing issues, then try a wired network connection rather than WiFi for your PC, is possible.
