Lenovo’s taking a truth-in-advertising approach with two upcoming desktop computers, and calling them the ThinkCentre M92p and M72e “tiny” desktop PCs.
Each computer measures just a little over 1.3 inches thick and looks more like a USB DVD drive than a full-fledged computer. Lenovo is aiming the PCs at business customers though, so the company is instead comparing them to the width of a golf ball.
The tiny computers feature Intel Ivy Bridge processors, support for hard drives or solid state disks, WiFi, and TPM security chips.
Both computers will be available in June, with the M92p seling for $799 and up while the M72e will start at $499.
It’s not clear what will set one model apart from the other, but Lenovo’s press release does mention that the pricier model will be able to power up to 3 monitors (or 4 in mosaic mode) without a discrete graphics card, suggesting it will have a higher-end Ivy Bridge processor than the ThinkCentre M72e.
While I’ve seen even slimmer desktop computers in the past, those models have tended to have low power Intel Atom or AMD Fusion processors. The ThinkCentre M92p looks like it will pack a little more punch without taking up much more space. On the other hand, there’s not much room inside the case for expansion ports, so you’ll probably need to use some of the 5 USB ports to connect any peripherals.
