Facebook on Sunday began to roll out revamped profile pages that integrate more images and reorganize personal information - and, as with nearly every major change by the social network to date, users immediately began to complain.

The Palo Alto company explained the changes in a corporate blog post, and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg highlighted the new features during a "60 Minutes" interview that aired Sunday on CBS.

The redesigned profile pages begin with basic information about Facebook users - including their location, university and employer - and feature more visual components, such as a row of recent photos and images to illustrate personal interests, according to the post by Facebook engineer Josh Wiseman.

New features also allow users to: highlight their closest friends on the social network; share interests and activities, like recent work projects, and favorite musicians; quickly browse photos through an "infinite scroll" feature that eliminates the need to click through to subsequent pages; and search for friends by hometown, school and other criteria.

The company said it is introducing the changes gradually, and that they should be available to everyone by early next year.

Many users, however, immediately began posting complaints about the new look and features.

"This new layout is just confusing and makes us more like a set of numbers and links than an actual human with that 'profile' feel," wrote one. "Can you please stop 'updating' the aesthetics of Facebook as we once knew it to make it into a social media nightmare?"

Another pointed out that his comments now note his employer.

"Why is my job showing up next to my name on this post!? It's never happened before, & I did not authorize it!"

Hopefully they'll decide to bring all the mobile applications and mobile site itself in line with each other and the main site.  There are a few discrepancies, especially when it comes to "Groups".

Also, the setting that stops goups from emailing you on every update is not working, as I still continue to receive mail.  This isn't a major problem on some groups, but others are updated daily by several people.
There's no place like 127.0.0.1
