It looks like Microsoft will focus on Windows 8 performance just as it did with Windows 7. Noting but good news, if you ask me. Here are another focus areas worth a tad more efforts: compatibility, reliability, smaller footprint, faster start-up and shutdown, etc.

Division: Windows Division The Windows Performance team is looking for an experienced test developer who would like an opportunity to contribute to the design and development of tests that will verify the latest Windows Server Performance Tools (some examples include: ICE, kernrate, intpolicy, hvprof). The next generation of these tools will expand VM support, modernize the logging and integrate into the viewers of our other tools. The position will leverage and develop a broad array of experiences from kernel mode, hypervisor, user mode, and GUI’s.
These tools are fundamental for the Performance team analysts. As such this role will provide the opportunity to work with senior developers.
We need an individual who can make contributions to feature design; engage with peers in test planning, design and scheduling; write solid code and perform all aspects of high-quality testing. You will be responsible for working with Program Management, Development and Test discipline peers to plan features, build technical plans, design/create tests and test infrastructure, as well as provide testing for our features. The test infrastructure is coming online for the first time so there is ample opportunity to fundamentally influence the solution.
