Following a series of console price cuts across the board, Microsoft plans to package two games along with its Xbox 360 Elite, the company has revealed.
The console will remain priced at $299, and will include the Disney Interactive off-road racer Pure as well as Warner Bros. title LEGO: Batman. The bundle ships to retailers today.
The critical response to LEGO: Batman was mixed, primarily due to a gameplay formula that lost its luster after the releases of LEGO: Star Wars and LEGO: Indiana Jones. Pure, however, proved to be one of 2008's surprise hits.
Keep in mind Microsoft announced a rebate program just last week that would knock $50 off the purchase of an Xbox 360 Elite between now and October 5.
Microsoft will also ship a Wireless Controller pack in November that includes a black Xbox 360 controller and four Xbox Live Arcade titles: Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, Lumines Live!, Bomberman Live!, and Ms. Pac-Man. The package will sell for $59.99.
The announcements from Microsoft arrive as their competitors have slashed the prices on their video game hardware. Last week, Nintendo dropped the price of the Wii to $299. Sony, who started the trend last month, cut the PlayStation 3 price to $299 and unveiled a sleeker new machine.
