Cities Skylines is already a smash on Steam, bringing Sim City in to the modern gaming age.

Even better news is that porting specialists Just Add Water are bringing dedicated versions to Windows 10 and Xbox One users.

The game, developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive, is a huge success and a critical hit with over 80% average review scores and well over a million sales.

The city building simulator goes in the hardcore direction that EA’s Sim City abandoned in favor of a casual mobile market.

Build Cities and They Will Come

Players start the game with a small plot off land, just off a freeway exit. In traditional style, they must build the residences, office space, amenities and leisure spaces to support a growing population.

All the while, not forgetting enough power, infrastructure, healthcare, policing and other facilities required to help run and maintain a booming city. Get it wrong and people will flee, get it right and watch your town explode into life.

See the game’s website (http://www.citiesskylines.com/) for the latest details. There’s no information on if the Windows 10 and Xbox versions will have any unique content or extra features, but they will both be welcome in their respective stores.

One thing that is known, is that the Xbox One version will feature the After Dark DLC that shipped after the original’s release. That adds a day/night feature to the game, making it even more atmospheric.

Another expansion that might not make it was just announced today. Snowfall, as you’d expect adds a seasonal element to the game, with a variety of weather systems adding new challenges.

The current version’s recommended specifications are a Core i5 processor and 6GB of RAM, with a 2GB GPU.
