Title: Mysterious 6-Inch Windows 10 Mobile Phablet Leaks
Post by: javajolt on January 13, 2016, 03:22:02 AM
Is it the mythic HP Falcon? Whatever it is, a massive Windows 10 Mobile smartphone has just been listed at GFXBench, and the database reveals some top notch hardware specifications.

What this essentially means is that some company is now testing a powerful smartphone that might make its way to the market in the coming weeks.

It could be Microsoft, it could be HP, or it could be anyone else.

A fair bet is that this is the HP Falcon, a phone whose existence was first revealed all the way back in December when it showed up online powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip. However, we have heard precious little regarding it since then.

This latest listing still has it as a generic Qualcomm smartphone, with no telling what brand name it will be launched under.

A look at the hardware specifications, then.

The Qualcomm MTP8996 is said to feature a massive 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display with support for the now mainstream Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

An equally impressive Adreno 530 graphics processing unit handles visual duties alongside the very powerful Snapdragon 820 chip, and while the amount of RAM is listed as 1.5GB, it probably is wrongly reported — benchmark sites have been known to report storage and memory errors like this.

It’s quite possible that we are looking at a 4GB beast here when it comes to RAM.

The phablet is said to offer 64GB of storage inside, to go with a 20 MP camera on the back, with support for 4K video. The front has been confirmed to house a 12 MP camera that can record full HD 1080p videos.

An accelerometer, gyroscope, light sensor, and compass round up the specifications, though there is no mention of battery or a microSD card slot.

That leaves only one interesting question. Who is behind this power packed handset?

Microsoft is not expected to launch another flagship until the second half of the year, at least, and this actually leaves only a select few companies with the ability to design and market a device of this caliber.
