Among other things. Among other things. Microsoft’s flagship app repository is off to a fine start, but the Windows 10 Store looks like it will be the real deal.

There is talk that besides Modern apps, the Windows Store will also provide access to desktop software downloads. And wait, there’s more. The company also plans to offer other types of digital content, making it a one-stop destination for people to download whatever they need.

One can make a case for music, movies, ebooks and magazines here, to go alongside apps and traditional software, though a lot of this will be clear when we have official details.

Additionally, Redmond is also considering allowing organizations to create their own private lists of public or private apps, making it easier for employees to grab the latest company software.

This is what Microsoft said in a blog post, which was removed soon after it was published:

Quote
“The Windows Store will also support more than just modern apps. It will add desktop apps, as well as other types of digital content. We will provide many different ways to pay for apps.

And we’ll provide an organization store within the public Windows Store, where an org can place their own curated list of public apps as well as specific line-of-business apps that their employees need.”
It is certain, the software titan is not yet ready to officially announce these features just yet.

But there is every chance that the new Windows 10 Store will be presented in preview form in the near future, in the test build of Windows 10. Hopefully, we get a sneak peek at the revised store sooner than that, one way or another.

If this holds true, it will soon be able to take on the respective solutions from Apple and Google.
