Windows 8 Consumer Preview includes a built-in option to view the current password which is being entered. This awesome feature was not included in Windows 8 Developer Preview or previous version of Windows OS but, now, Consumer Preview is the first ever OS by Microsoft to include this awesome options. It is very helpful for beginners who make spelling mistakes while writing.
While entering a password in anything using Windows 8 Consumer Preview, you can view the entered password anytime by clicking the special button just beside the password field.
Note: You don’t need to have any software or know any trick to view the password.
How to View Password:
While writing the password for anything in Windows 8 Consumer Preview, you would see an eye icon (refer the image below) on the right side of the password field. Click that eye and keep pressing it and your password would be visible for the time the button is being pressed.

Where does the password view feature work?
The options works in almost all the password fields including:
• All the Metro-Style apps which require password for login/access.
• Windows login prompt where you enter your Windows Live ID and password or in some cases a local ID with password.
• Every login field on Internet except some, specified below in the next section.
Places where this password view feature won’t work.
This awesome feature won’t work on some of the places which are specified below:
• Some software’s which are running in compatibility mode.
• It may also not work in encrypted login pages and Silverlight supported logins.
I haven’t tested this feature for all the software’s but, I shared by findings. If you come to know a software/app/website on internet which doesn’t allow that password view feature to be used, please share it with the readers of Windows 8 Core by using the comments below.
Here is a quick video showing the same password view feature of Windows 8 Consumer Preview on different locations.
