Most popular eBook readers on the market today have the same boring screen: a 6 inch, 800 x 600 pixel e-ink display. Sure, it doesn’t use much power and looks great outdoors. But will it bend?
I didn’t think so.
Enter LG’s new flexible electronic paper display.

LG’s new screen is a 6 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel e-ink display. It’s a plastic screen that can be bent up to 40 degrees from the center of the screen.
OK, so you can’t exactly fold the screen in half or crumple it into a ball. But the technology could allow for eBook readers with more durable screens that can survive a fall onto a hard surface.
LG says its screens are also thinner and lighter than typical glass e-ink displays, which could lead to slimmer and lighter devices for reading eBooks — although it’s hard to imagine how much lighter they could get while still remaining comfortable to hold.
