Hugh Hefner tweeted that full uncensored issues of Playboy magazine will become available on the iPad in March.

Wait, what?!

Sure, Playboy already has a $0.99 iPhone app in the App Store, but it contains no nudity.

Here’s Hef’s tweet announcing the news:

So, Steve Jobs goes on medical leave and Apple begins allowing nudity into the App Store? Does Steve know about this?

Engadget notes:

Quote
From its very first issue in 1953 to its latest incarnation, the full catalog (http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/29/playboy-releases-not-so-discrete-250gb-cover-to-cover-hard-dri/) of Playboy Magazine is coming to the iPad this March. And not only that, it’ll be faithful to its original form by arriving to your Apple slateuncensored.

I suspect that the timing of the Playboy for iPad launch has something to do with the new subscription billing API that Apple is developing for newspapers and magazine publishers. With it you’ll be able to “subscribe” to a given publication from the iPad app and a pre-set amount will be automatically charged to your iTunes account at a daily/weekly or monthly interval. News Corp’s The Daily is believed to be the first app to use the new plumbing.

But forget about all that for a second, what’s up with the nudity? Is this an official change in policy by Apple? For now, no one’s talking…

Update: I changed the headline and a couple of “porn” references because “nudity” more accurately describes the content of Playboy

It may be uncensored but I suspect it will be the stripped down version  ;)

I think what has happened apple has made a decision on the definition of nudity and porn!

Here is how The Free Dictionary (http://[url=http://www.thefreedictionary.com/) defines these two different words.

Nudity (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/nudity): 1.Having no clothing; naked.
        2. Permitting or featuring full exposure of the body

Pornography (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pornography): 1. Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.
             2. Lurid or sensational material: [/color]
