Despite the fact that there are very few viruses on Mac, there are a lot of antivirus softwares that could take care of them if they existed.

We can truly wonder why all those companies are so eager to enter that market, while most Mac users are strongly convinced that there is absolutely no virus on their computer. Several answers can be provided:
• A lot of people switching from a PC to a Mac cannot conceive not to have such a software on their computer.
• If a real attack happens on Mac OS X, those companies need to be ready to fight back.
• Macs are starting, slowly, to find their way back to classrooms, companies, administrations, etc. There also, due to the long habit of having viruses on Windows, antivirus softwares are required.
There is a really big market, despite the absence of viruses. It is a little like the vaccination against swine flu last year, which was useless in the end, except for labs that made them and most importantly sold them…
