Apple Inc., manufacturer of the iPhone and Macintosh computers, has partnered with Unisys Corp. Apple made the smart move by marking sales in corporations and U.S. government agencies. Currently Apple is employing its wide share in the consumer market, with most of the gadgets and devices used by consumers who are either home users or business. Expanding the consumer base is surely every company’s will and for that Apple appointed Unisys Corp., to expand the horizon. While Apple will do the hardware work, Unisys would be providing Apple with maintenance and other services.

All companies which include government agencies who purchase Apple’s devices will get maintenance as well as backup services via Unisys. Gene Zapfel, Managing Director Unisys, revealed that the deal took place this month which is of course Apple’s first. No terms and conditions were available from any of them.
CEO Apple Steve Jobs revealed that the company’s iPhone is being deployed and tested by 80 percent of Fortune 500 companies while the iPad is being tested at 65 percent of Fortune 100 companies. Apple obviously needs a backup which will help ensure Apple products work well for which Unisys is appointed.

Zapfel told:

Most of those organizations are still pretty heavily PC- based. Apple is going to crack the nut and clients are going to start buying a lot more.
Unisys on the other hand has already unveiled an iPhone application for government clients which being used by U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The App lets border patrol check the status of border-crossing from an iPhone
