A new Microsoft patent has been published by the US Patent & Trademark Office showing a “game controller that converts between wireless operating and wire operation”. This would be different than current Xbox 360 controllers which utilize the play and charge kit, which essentially means your controller is still in wireless mode when plugged in and charging, and some users have complained about the delay that this causes.
The new Xbox 360 controller detailed in the patent would give you the response of a true wired controller. The controller will be “configured to detect a condition that suggests switching from the wireless mode of operation to a wired mode of operation, convey the indication to a host game system, and transition from the wireless mode of operation to the wired mode of operation.”
