Singer-songwriter Evan Taubenfeld, who you may remember as the former lead guitarist for Avril Lavigne, released the music video for his song “Pumpkin Pie” yesterday. The song is the third single off Taubenfeld’s debut solo album Welcome to the Blacklist Club, but what’s most intriguing is that Taubenfeld used Twitter as the backdrop for all the drama and action in the video.

Taubenfeld’s music video plays out like a Twitter-driven love story — albeit one without a happy ending — and includes a smattering of tweets and TwitPics, all of which are real. Even tweets from celebrity artists like Pete Wentz and Courtney Love make their way into the video.

The Twitter-focused video seems like a natural progression for Taubenfeld. The musician is an avid consumer of all things social media. As such, you can find him on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr and Justin.tv. In fact, Taubenfeld tried to take over Twitter’s trending topics yesterday with a big #pumpkinpievideo hashtag push in honor of the video’s debut.

Whether Taubenfeld’s music is your taste or not, you have to admit that the 25-year-old certainly seems to be in tune with the social media predilections of his fans and supporters.
