Windows 7 Pro install size ?

 ??? what is the size of Windows 7 Pro when installed on my computer ?? mine for some bizzare reason seems BIG !!!!

2.3Gb is the download but when installed ??

I'm not sure. Sometimes they put recovery partions on your comptuer and they shrink your C Drive so that they can use 10GB of it as your recovery drive.

I believe it takes 11-12 GB of space on the clean install for Ultimate.  Professional should be just a bit less.

the download size is 2.3GB, but it is loaded with .cab files and during installation these .cab files are expanded and their contents are installed increasing the on disk size substantially.  without the .cab files you would never be able to burn that iso to disc.  it would be the old days all over again when installations spanned several floppy disks.  example windows 95 came with 13 floppy disks that were inserted one at a time.

I still have a disk backup set in the closet...it was 30 disks.

That would be a collaboration of Phil Katz (author of the .zip format), David Stafford (creator of Quantum Compression), and Jonathan Forbes and Tomi Poutanen (inventors of the LZX compression algorithm).

Of course Microsoft is responsible for buying/licensing these technologies and bringing them together.
