Microsoft posts first round of Build 2018 sessions
« on: March 29, 2018, 02:32:14 AM »
Just last month, Microsoft opened up registrations for Build 2018 ahead of the May 7th-May 9th annual developer conference. The company did not initially share many details on what attendees can expect, but Microsoft recently updated their Build website, revealing some of the details on featured sessions.

As expected, Build 2018 sessions range from Azure, Visual Studio, Microsoft 365, and more. Microsoft promises there are over 350 technical sessions and interactive workshops to choose from, but interestingly, none of the featured sessions currently mention Windows 10. We’re assuming Microsoft may be avoiding spoilers, but you can have a look at some of the sessions below and check here for the full list.

► Visual Studio and Xamarin enable developers to craft native experiences across every platform, including Android, iOS, and wearables. Developers need rich APIs and a powerful cloud to deliver these apps for every scenario, and that’s where Azure can help. In this session, we’ll show you how to connect powerful Azure services to your C# apps, including Azure AD B2C, Azure Functions, Cognitive Services, and Cosmos DB.

► Feed your imagination with a tour of the data center architecture and implementation that runs Microsoft Azure. Azure covers more than 150 datacenters in 40 announced regions, and it’s growing fast. It delivers the promise of cloud computing—including high availability, extreme performance, and security—by custom designing software and hardware to work best together. You’ll come away with insight on reliable clean-energy datacenter designs, using FPGAs to accelerate networking and machine learning, designing storage servers to deliver ultra-low latency and high throughput, and more.

► See what’s new in Visual Studio and Xamarin, which let C# developers become Android, iOS, and Windows app developers overnight. In this session, we’ll cover how to use your existing C# and .NET skills to create fully native apps on every platform. From start to finish, Visual Studio and Xamarin give developers powerful tools to craft these apps.

Build 2018 runs the same week as Google’s I/O conference, so it will be interesting to see if attendance is impacted. You can visit this website to register for Build 2018. Full conference passes will cost $2,495, providing access to all sessions, content, and the Expo hall plus all conference meals.
