The Outlook Progressive Web App (PWA). com introduces the ability to be set as the default app for sending emails.

Outlook.com as the default mail app

The latest addition to the Progressive Web App of Outlook.com has the ability to set PWA as the default app for sending emails. A new message appears on the website on the top, informing the user of the new functionality:

The browser supports setting Outlook.com as the default email address manager. The feature uses the “URL protocol handler registration for PWAs” functionality, a feature that rolled out with Chrome 92.



You will be able to change the default email app again using the Windows 10 and Windows 11 Settings app. The ability to set up Outlook.com as the default app for ' sending e-mail is currently being phased release for all Microsoft account, so do not worry if you do not see it yet active on your account; however, a browser compatible with this functionality is required.
