MWC 2015: Surface Pro 3 Wins MWC 2015 Global Mobile Award
« on: March 04, 2015, 03:30:24 AM »
Finally some well earned recognition for Microsoft and their premium tablet. Surface Pro 3 has earned a win for the technology giant at Mobile World Congress 2015.

Several new gizmos were unveiled at MWC 2015, but the prestigious event is not only about exciting new smartphones, tablets, wearables and other mobile devices. It also is a chance to look back on the past year, and its highlights.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 picked up the prize for the best mobile tablet at the Global Mobile Award, in recognition of innovative technology products.

Dennis Meinhardt, director of program management for Microsoft Surface, had this to say:

Quote
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be winning this award. Surface Pro 3 is the world’s most productive tablet, and is a tablet that can replace your laptop. With Surface Pro 3 we have managed to marry the hardware and software to provide the power and performance of a full laptop without compromising the sleek design, lightness, and great battery life that we expect from a tablet.”
Excellent news all round.

And while Windows Phone powered handsets were notably absent, the iPhone 6 and the LG G3 fought off competition from other flagship smartphones to share the smartphone award.

Deserved win for the LG G3 — a smartphone beloved by fans and users alike.

As for a successor to the premium slate, Redmond is said to be preparing a couple of new models. There is talk of a Surface Pro 4, which may well be renamed just as Surface 4. There is also word that the company may release a smaller tablet in the form of a Surface Mini.

All rumors for now, but we are bound to hear more as we move closer to the debut of Windows 10.
