Huawei wants to follow up on last year’s MWC launches with products that fit within the same pattern. Thus, we get a tablet/phone unveiling today, dubbed Huawei MediaPad X2. This device is pictured below and it’s the success of the MediaPad X1.

Apparently, the X1 had quite some traction in Asia, because people actually liked the idea of a 7 inch phone there, in tandem with a Bluetooth headset. Meanwhile, in the West this approach wasn’t that popular. MediaPad X2 comes with the HiSilicon Kirin 930 CPU, an upgraded from the predecessor and this one is an octa core ARM A53 core chipset with an ARM Mali T628 GPU.

The device should be priced at a more affordable rate than Western slates with phone calling features and their own octa core CPUs. The screen on board is a 7 inch 1080p unit, while the slate’s design is very similar to the one of the X1. The body looks almost exactly the same. We get a 5000 mAh battery, with the ability to offer 12 hours of video playback. Android 5.0 is on board, too.
